System Requirements

Operating System:

  • Windows 2000
  • Windows NT 4.0
  • Windows XP
  • Windows 2003
  • Windows Vista

Microsoft's Dot Net Framework 1.1 or higher must be installed prior to installation. We explain what the Dot Net Framework is below.
To check to see if you have it:
Click Start Control Panel Add/Remove Programs.
It'll be listed as Microsoft .NET Framework. (Vista always has it.)

256MB RAM memory is the minimum required; 512MB is optimal. On Vista, 1Giga is the minimum. (This is standard for Vista computers.)
To find how much memory your computer has:
Click Start Control Panel System.
You'll see it listed as RAM on the first tab, General.

Monitor display of at least 800 x 600 pixels, though 1024 x 765 is optimal

Standard Internet Service Provider, if you'll be using the E-mail/FTP functions. If you can use whatever browser and whatever email program you wish with your ISP, you have a Standard ISP.

MPWord Professional and MTSO only: A good Data/Fax modem, if you'll be using the Fax capabilities. Your inexpensive and popular WinFax modems may or may not work--some do, some don't. Even in the same brand and model, but with different build numbers, we have found some work and some don't. Because of this, we generally recommend a Multi-Tech modem. More expensive, but it is warranted for 10 years.

MPLite only: MS Word in a version higher than Word 2000: Word 2002 (XP), Word 2003 or Word 2007.

About the Microsoft Dot Net Framework

Microsoft developed the Dot Net framework to provide software programs a consistent set of definitions and functions. Prior to the framework, the software languages defined things for themselves, either in included header files, or in run-time assemblies. Microsoft has assigned the framework to public domain.

The framework is part of the WinXP service pack 1, and is part of the operating system in Vista. Therefore, the chances are high that you already have it installed. But take just a moment to verify that you do:

To check if you already have the framework:
Click Start Control Panel Add/Remove Programs.

If you have it, it will be listed as Microsoft .NET framework. It needs to be version 1.1 or higher.

If you don't have the framework, you may download it here. Save the file to your hard drive, and once the download is complete (>23MB), double click the file to start the installation process. Don't install onto Vista.

Windows security measures now prevent the viewing of help files on a network drive. If you get a message in the help file stating "This program cannot display the web page," Windows is preventing the display of the help file. The page below describes the problem and the solution very well:

We offer for download the utility mentioned on that page as a download here:
